Attention: Data breach on the servers of the Studen Union's membership register supplier

Dear Member of the Student Union KOE,

Unfortunately we have to inform you that the web and database servers of our membership register supplier, Hakosalo Innovations Oy, were the target of a data breach during the night of October 21-22, 2024.

Upon discovering the breach, our membership register supplier, Hakosalo Innovations Oy, immediately took action in collaboration with their service provider. The breach was contained, and security measures were further enhanced. An incident report was promptly made to Traficom's Cybersecurity Center and the Data Protection Ombudsman, and a police report was also filed regarding the matter.

The supplier thoroughly investigated the issue with their service provider, and based on these findings, no data was downloaded from the servers. The data content on the servers was rendered unusable. All data on the servers has been restored from backups, which resulted in a loss of one day's changes in the membership register.

Hakosalo Innovations Oy has also taken steps to further improve data security to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
