Student Union KOE is seeking student representatives for the Board of LAB University of Applied Sciences Ltd, the LAB Degree Committee, and KOE’s Political Working Group.
We are looking for:
LAB Board: One (1) full member.
LAB Degree Committee: One (1) full member and one (1) deputy member.
KOE Political Working Group: 5–10 members.
The terms of office for the LAB positions are one (1) year. The term for KOE’s Political Working Group lasts until the end of this year (2026).
LAB University of Applied Sciences Board
The Board holds the highest decision-making power regarding the university's strategy, finances, organization, and rules of procedure. Within legal limits, the Board also decides on student intake numbers and strategic questions related to studies. More detailed tasks are defined in the Universities of Applied Sciences Act (Section 16): Finlex Link.
LAB University of Applied Sciences Degree Committee
The task of the Degree Committee is to process rectification requests regarding the study attainments of registered students. The committee only evaluates requests concerning the final grade of a course or project. The committee meets as needed—specifically when a student has submitted a formal written request addressed to the committee.
KOE’s Political Working Group
Do you want to influence the daily life and future of students? Join us in creating KOE’s Political Programme!
The Political Programme is a guideline used by KOE’s Board and Representative Council for long-term advocacy work in both Lahti and Lappeenranta. The goal is to improve the status of students locally and long-term, in cooperation with all political parties.
The programme outlines long-term advocacy goals and defines the changes KOE wants to pursue regarding student wellbeing, financial status, and housing. It serves as a concrete tool for advocacy work within cities and with stakeholders.
Note: Despite its name, the Political Programme is politically independent, meaning it is a document separate from political parties and their ideologies. Student Union KOE is party-politically neutral. While members’ personal political affiliations are not restricted (diverse ideas are welcome!), the group works solely for the benefit of students.
You don’t need to be a "politics pro" or even active in politics. An authentic interest in developing the student experience is enough. This is your chance to strengthen the student voice!
